Many times we wonder if humans can understand and communicate with our faithful friends dogs, but we do not get a certain answer. Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary, has started to conduct a study in which they discovered that human beings are capable of understanding a dog.

In the study, which was published in the Royal Society Open Science, it is claimed that we managed to explain what dogs try to tell us when they growl or bark at certain situations and suggests that women are better than men in this task.

Experts say that dogs express their emotions quite honestly when they face a serious situation. However, if they don’t feel very safe or are playing, they will try to manipulate you a bit with their emotions.

A study on humans and dogs

The study involved 18 dogs and analyzed their vocal response to feeling threatened by a stranger, to protect their food from other dogs and play pulling the rope with their owner. These three were chosen because they are actual situations in which animals would experience different emotions.

Among the emotions, they could experience fear, despair, aggression, and happiness. The sounds emitted by dogs were recorded, and forty volunteers were asked to listen to the recordings and asked what emotion the dog was experiencing at that time. The women were successful many more times.

Women are more sensitive

Researchers say that women are generally more empathetic than men, so they are more sensitive to the emotions of others.

Women are more empathetic

This is what we can associate the context with the emotional content of the vocal expression. Also, other studies ensure that they are “genetically” more empathetic, and therefore they understand what happens in the head of the other more easily.

Experience counts

However, we must not forget that experience is also an essential factor. Volunteers who had dogs at some time in their lives were more successful than those who did not.

It is not an extensive study, but it is very relevant because it establishes differences between men and women when communicating with another species shows that human beings can recognize different types of grunts.

It has been said that the dog is man’s best friend. This is true if we understand human beings in general as men. If we distinguish by gender, we should conclude that the dog is the best friend of the woman.
